Superintendent of Schools - Position Application
Due to the retirement of our incumbent Superintendent of six years, the Board of Trustees invites applications for the position of Superintendent/CEO for Fort McMurray Public Schools. Duties will commence February 1, 2020, or as mutually agreed.
Fort McMurray Public Schools serves approximately 6,000 students in 12 elementary schools, and four high schools. The Board of Trustees consists of seven members who are dedicated to continuous improvement. The District is home to Christian and Islamic schools, known as alternative programs. Frank Spragins, our outreach high school, provides a unique learning environment with flexibility and choices for students in grades 9 to 12 from throughout the Wood Buffalo region.
We offer a variety of programming for our youngest three-year-old Early Childhood Development Program students to our Grade 12 students. Our dynamic District has received multiple national and provincial awards in the last few years.
FMPSD’s PEAK Athletic Academy delivers passion-based athletics and fine arts programming. French Immersion is offered in Grades K to 12. Indigenous Education is championed across the District. In addition, English Language Learner programs are provided in all schools. We have inclusive special education programs, advanced placement, enrichment and support programs.

As a passionate ambassador for the District, the candidate will be highly visible and engaged in the community, and will partner with our public to strategically advance the interests of our students.
The successful candidate will qualify for Alberta teaching certification and have earned a Master’s degree.
