James Sedgwick - Vice Principal, Westview School
James Sedgwick will be moving to Westview School as Vice Principal. Mr. Sedgwick has held school administration roles as Principal of Greely Road School and Vice Principal of Christina Gordon School. Before becoming a school administrator, James was a teacher at Westwood Community High School.
Debbie Peddle - Vice Principal, Christina Gordon School
Debbie Peddle has worked as a school administrator for 20 years, the last 10 years as Principal of Holy Trinity Elementary in Torbay, Newfoundland And Labrador. Her philosophy of education is based on her uncompromising belief that all students can learn, given a positive learning environment, strong and knowledgeable leadership, a committed and focused educational team, and an encouraging community and a supportive family.
Hélène Hopkins - Vice Principal, École McTavish High School
Hélène Hopkins joined Fort McMurray Public School Division in 2017 as a French Immersion teacher of junior and senior high math and science at École McTavish High School. Hélène is very involved in many school activities, including coaching badminton and volleyball. Outside of school, Hélène has served 15 years as a reservist in the Canadian Armed Forces and volunteers with the local Air Cadets Squadron, supporting the development of many youth in the community.
Lindsay Giraudier - Vice Principal, École McTavish High School
Lindsay Giraudier has been with Westwood Community High School since 2007 as a teacher and served one year as Acting Vice Principal. Beyond the classroom, Lindsay supports students and school programs as a coach for Alberta Skills Competition as well as extracurricular sports, including cross-country, track and field and basketball. She took the lead in establishing the very successful breakfast program offered to students at Westwood Community High School. Lindsay is excited for this new chapter working with students, staff and parents at École McTavish High School.
Nedessa Reid - Vice Principal, Thickwood Heights School
Nedessa Reid began teaching at FMPSD in 2005 and has taught at Timberlea School, Composite High School and École McTavish High School. In spring 2022, Nedessa served as Acting Vice Principal at École McTavish. Nedessa is returning to Fort McMurray after a year of teaching overseas at the American School of Bombay, where she served as a High School Learning Coach. Nedessa has a Master's degree in Special Education and has demonstrated a passion for supporting the learning needs of all students.
Daniel Baseley - Vice Principal, Westwood Community High School
Dan Baseley will be moving to Westwood Community High School as Vice Principal for the 2023/2024 school year. Dan has served as Vice Principal at the Fort McMurray Christian School and, most recently, École McTavish High School. Dan previously served as a teacher at Westwood Community High School and, after some years away, is now returning to the role of VP.
Bailey Kwiatkowski - Vice Principal, Westwood Community High School
Bailey Kwiatkowski has been teaching High School Language Arts and Drama for the past 12 years and completed her Master's of Educational Leadership in 2016. She joined FMPSD in 2020 as a teacher at École McTavish High School. Bailey is passionate about building the school community through Student Council and Student Wellness groups. She is thankful to the McTavish staff and students for embracing her and providing meaningful opportunities to grow as an educator. She looks forward to getting to know the Westwood community.
