FMPSD and CUPE Negotiations

Posted on: General News

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The Fort McMurray Public School Division (FMPSD) is aware that the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 2545 (CUPE) employee group held a strike vote over the two previous days. There is a 24-hour period before the Labour Board will release the official results.

FMPSD remains committed to negotiating and meeting with the union to resolve the outstanding items.  If CUPE local 2545 members voted to strike, they will be eligible to give notice to withdraw their services. Updates will be provided as they become available.

FMPSD assures parents and students that our intent is for schools to remain open in the event of a CUPE strike.
