Posted on: General News

(Fort McMurray, AB - September 4th, 2024) As the summer days wane and the air fills with the crisp promise of autumn, Fort McMurray Public School Division (FMPSD) is thrilled to welcome back students and staff for the 2024/2025 school year. The energy in the hallways is palpable, with the buzz of new beginnings and the anticipation of another enriching academic year.

From the moment students step back into our school facilities, they are met with warm smiles and open arms. Teachers, administrators, and staff have been hard at work preparing for this moment, ensuring that every classroom is ready to inspire and engage. The well-being and success of each student remain at the heart of our mission, and FMPSD is unwavering in its commitment to fostering an environment where everyone can thrive.

Education is a collaborative effort, and FMPSD values the partnership between our schools, families, and the wider community. We look forward to hosting events throughout the year that bring us together, from parent-teacher conferences and school fairs to community service projects. These opportunities for connection and collaboration help build a strong, supportive network for our students.

The first day back is always filled with a mix of emotions: excitement, nervousness, and curiosity. For our youngest students, it's the beginning of an educational adventure. For our older students, it's another step towards their future goals. Regardless of where they are in their academic journey, FMPSD is here to guide, support, and celebrate their achievements.

Superintendent Annalee Nutter envisions an inspiring future for FMPSD schools, where hope is the guiding principle behind every interaction and lesson.

"Moving forward into a new school year, we want our schools to continue being places where hope guides every interaction and lesson. Our schools will remain as spaces where hope is not just an idea but a driving force and where staff, students, and families work together to turn challenges into opportunities. With hope as our foundation, our schools will be places where growth, resilience, and possibility flourish, shaping a brighter future for all."

The 2024/2025 school year promises to be one of growth, learning, and unforgettable experiences. Together, we will explore new ideas, overcome challenges, and celebrate successes. FMPSD is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment where every student can reach their full potential, igniting a sense of inspiration and anticipation for the journey ahead.
