Greely Road Public School PEAK Baseball Information Session on June 10

The Fort McMurray Public School District (FMPSD) Board of Trustees and Senior Administration would like to gauge interest for the possibility of a PEAK Baseball program at Greely Road Public School starting in September 2019. You are invited to an information session on Monday, June 10, 7 p.m., at the school.

PEAK (Passion, Excellence, Attitude, Knowledge) is our FMPSD sports academy, and a successful program growing annually. Greely Road students are looking forward to playing baseball. Chris King, Greely Road Science teacher is looking forward to coaching student athletes.

“Late last month, Greely Road attended the Board of Trustees meeting where students presented on sports at the school. They collectively expressed a strong desire to have a baseball program, and with my coaching background I thought it would be a great fit,” explained King, who is Canadian Baseball certified to teach and coach at all levels.

PEAK Coordinator, Scott Barr says the program would help students in multiple ways.

“Through PEAK baseball students will be given the opportunity to practice their baseball skills under a high level instructor, while connecting that training and passion to academics. We look forward to sharing the PEAK programming with the parents in the Greely Road school area or other parts of the community so they can see how it can support their children's learning.”

James Sedgwick, Principal, Greely Road Public School is looking forward to the information session.

“The primary goal of the info session is to determine the level of interest for a PEAK Baseball Academy for grade 4,5,6 students. We hope to see many parents in attendance, and to launch the program this fall. We look forward to your participation,” Sedgwick notes.
