News Release: Chris Organ Appointed Division Principal

(Fort McMurray, AB, June 21, 2021) Fort McMurray Public School Division (FMPSD) congratulates Chris Organ on being appointed as Division Principal. Organ, who is the current Principal of Greely Road Public School will begin his new role this fall.

As Division Principal, he will be overseeing a multi-faceted portfolio working with the Superintendent, liasoning with school leaders, and involving human resources duties, to name a few.

Organ started his FMPSD career in 2005 as a grade 7/8 teacher at Greely Road Public School. In the last 16 years, he has taught at several Division schools on the elementary and junior high levels. And, has been a Vice Principal at Beacon Hill Public School, École McTavish and Christina Gordon Public School. He has also coached elementary basketball for our PEAK Athletic Academy.

Additionally, over the 2020-2021 school year he successfully launched the elementary E-cademy+ program, an online, home-based education initiative. At the peak of enrollment the program provided learning opportunities for 430 students in ECDP - Grade 6, including French Immersion.

“Having had wonderful experiences at all the FMPSD schools, I learned from so many great educators, educational assistants, support staff, and administrators. The chance to help the students, families, and staff at all FMPSD sites and work with so many great school leaders is a role I’m looking forward to.”

Organ has been an active member of the community, he helped organize the Food Bank drive during the flood of 2020 as well as the sandbagging in downtown. Well-known in the region for his love of fostering youth sport, Organ has been highlighted as a basketball coach for the Northern Trail Blazers and for the Timbits Minor Soccer League. 

In 2019, Organ received the coveted FMPSD George Decker Memorial Leadership Award in recognition of his exceptional leadership capacity.
