Join us at the Fort McMurray Public School Division (FMPSD) for an enlightening showcase of our Early Childhood Development Program (ECDP), dedicated to enriching the lives of our youngest learners.
This is a delightful opportunity for parents and children to explore the vibrant world of early education that FMPSD proudly offers.
Our ECDP Open Houses are scheduled for tonight, March 7th, from 5-7 p.m. and tomorrow, March 8th, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
What is ECDP?
ECDP is an optional, half-day program designed to enrich the year prior to Kindergarten, setting the foundation for a lifetime of learning. Uniquely, Fort McMurray offers this program universally, welcoming all children who meet the age requirement and ensuring inclusivity at its core.
Why Attend the ECDP Open Houses?
This is the perfect occasion to commence your child’s educational journey, unveiling a path filled with discovery, learning, and the formation of enduring friendships. Understandably, transitioning into schooling comes with a mix of emotions, from excitement to anticipation. We aim to support parents through this significant milestone by offering a window into the structured yet nurturing environment that our early learning programs provide.
Activities & Programs to Explore
During the ECDP Open Houses, families will have the chance to:
- Meet and Greet with Qualified Teachers: Engage with our passionate educators and discover how their expertise shapes our early learning environments.
- Explore Comprehensive Support: Learn about the additional support our classrooms receive from a wide range of professionals, including educational assistants, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and more - all dedicated to nurturing your child’s development.
- Understand Whole-Child Learning: Discover our philosophy, which emphasizes language-enriched play as a critical avenue for early childhood learning, where literacy, numeracy, creativity, and critical thinking skills flourish naturally.
- Programs of Choice: With FMPSD, variety is key. Whether it’s the Christian-based programming at Fort McMurray Christian School, French Immersion at Ecole Dickinsfield School, or Reggio-Inspired programs at Walter and Gladys Hill or Christina Gordon Public Schools, learn about the diverse options that cater to every child’s unique needs and interests.
Benefits of ECDP
ECDP is carefully designed to:
- Enhance essential communication, social, and emotional skills.
- Foster creative and cognitive development through engaging, firsthand experiences.
- Develop literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Promote greater independence and a strong sense of belonging and well-being.
We aim to ensure each child’s smooth transition into Kindergarten and elementary school, fostering a profound love for learning that will prepare them for positive future school experiences.
